Black sun-readable operator panel

The new EXTER T150sr-bl from Beijer Electronics is an important step in the right direction, satisfying the demand for intuitive HMI solutions for outdoor environments. The new addition to the EXTER series is the first of three black sun-readable models, being followed by the T70sr-bl and the T100sr-bl. All three offer first-class readable displays in all light conditions, essential for complete process management.

“Compact, efficient functionality is combined with award winning design to provide the best in intuitive HMI that’s tailor-made for outdoor use” explains Marcus Jillgart, Global Product Manager for Premium Segment HMI at Beijer Electronics. “The sun-readable model is a significant addition, offering all the functionality and intuitive configuration software you get with the standard EXTER series, but with an elegant sun-readable display that provides excellent viewing performance in the direct glare of sunlight” he adds.

Aesthetic feel with dependable function The EXTER T150sr-bl is the perfect outdoor HMI solution, satisfying demands from stylish luxury yachts and rugged oil platforms alike. “The appealingly designed black, powder-coated aluminum frame and casing provides protection while reducing reflected glare and adding an elegant, aesthetic feel” clarifies Marcus. Providing more than simply style, it’s the all-conditions reliability that sets the EXTER T150sr-bl apart from the sea of competitors. As Marcus Jillgart points out, “unpredictable light conditions outdoors can often limit the effectiveness of other operator panels, but the sun-readable panel can actually be easier to read in direct sunlight.” The EXTER T150sr-bl is the perfect choice for round-the-clock outdoor use, as Marcus goes on to illustrate. “The EXTER T150sr-bl features a clear, high-resolution screen, TFT display for optimal viewing and a dimmable backlight to ensure the best possible night-time vision, making the operator panel the perfect all-weather, 24-hour a day HMI solution.”

Durable for all outdoor applicationsThe EXTER T150sr-bl is particularly suitable for the Marine, Oil & Gas and Water & Irrigation industries, where reliable, robust and user-friendly HMI solutions are needed in outdoor environments at all hours and in all light conditions. The EXTER T150sr-bl’s combination of robust-yet-elegant design and exceptional readability makes it the perfect choice for use on farms and vineyards, in Oil & Gas installations and throughout the entire range of maritime applications.

Beijer Electronics upgrades its 5.7” EXTER operator panels to TFT displays. The upgrade from an STN display affords a number of advantages, with TFT displays delivering both higher image quality and a faster response time. “The main advantage with the TFT-display is that it offers greater viewing angles,” explained Marcus Jillgart, Global Product Manager for Premium Segment HMI at Beijer Electronics, going on to add “The brightness and contrast are also better with the TFT-display, so I am glad to announce that all EXTER 5.7" models now feature TFT-displays.”

In addition to this, the CCFL backlight is being replaced with a LED, which not only affords better viewing but is relatively shock resistant and more environmentally friendly when compared to the supplanted CCFLs.

Stainless EXTER panel

Beijer Electronics adds a new model to its EXTER series of operator panels. The EXTER T150-st delivers intuitive HMI solutions, combining compact efficient functionality with award winning design. The thing that sets the EXTER T150-st apart from the rest is its sleek, stainless steel construction.

Durability in tough conditions “The stringent regulations that apply throughout the Food & Beverage and Pharmaceuticals industries often require the use of powerful cleaning agents to satisfy the high standards of hygiene” explains Marcus Jillgart, Global Product Manager for Premium Segment HMI at Beijer Electronics. “Some acid-based cleaning agents can pose problems for other operator panels, with long term use leading to corrosion,” he clarifies “the EXTER T150-st has an acid-resistant stainless steel construction, so it’s perfectly suited to these kinds of tough conditions.”

In addition, “this stainless steel operator panel has a recognizably streamlined appearance, with the surface and shape offering a number of advantages over other operator panels” continues Marcus. “The streamlined construction, and the fact that the panel has neither foil nor labels on the front, means that there are less minute cracks and lines in the surfaces where bacteria and other pathogens might otherwise hide, so it’s much easier to keep clean” he adds. What’s more, the front of the EXTER T150-st is waterproof, making it easy to clean with high-power water jets without the risk of water leaking into the operator panel itself.

Robust and aesthetic designThe exclusive design offered by the operator panel’s brushed-steel finish makes it an elegant complement to any control area, affording a rugged and robust aesthetic feel to operations. The EXTER T150-st is perfect for utilization throughout the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals and Oil & Gas industries, being robust, easy-to-clean, aesthetically pleasing and compliant with the rigorous hygiene demands and safety standards demanded.

The new EPCs
are ideal for complex machine control and process visualization in tough
industrial environments where maximum reliability and high performance is
required.

“In many
applications, an ordinary industrial PC just isn’t robust enough to do the job.
With an embedded industrial PC, users benefit from the best of the PC world in
terms of openness and high performance and the best of embedded systems – high
reliability, reduced downtime and money saved”, says Mr. Dietmar Kolbus, Global
Product Manager for premium plus HMI at Beijer Electronics, and continues: “Beijer
Electronics’ new range of Embedded industrial PCs (EPC) meets the tough demands
on HMI solutions in industrial
environments”.

Built-in reliability
Beijer
Electronics’ EPC series delivers on high reliability thanks to the
shock-absorbing hard disk and other vibration resistant features such as
expansion slots with a solid card holders.

High performance and flexibility
The EPCs
feature industrial class fan-less CPU performance and multiple communication
ports and expansion slots provide many options for networking and updating, making
this an ideal HMI for machine builders and system integrators alike.

The new EPC
line consists of three models with high-contrast TFT touch displays of 15, 17
and 19 inches respectively. The EPC feature Intel Celeron Mobile 1.3 GHz
processors and Windows XP Professional Multilingual User Interface.

“With this
new product line, we now offer customers more power and flexibility for those
applications that demand something more than traditional operator panels”, Mr.
Kolbus concludes.
